WHO ARE WE? Philly Nannies is a nanny-run support group that serves all in home caregivers in the greater Philadelphia area. We strive to provide our members with social networking, community volunteer opportunities, and professional development. Philly Nannies promotes our profession within the city and beyond. We view the professional nanny as an important partner in the social, emotional and intellectual development of children and hope to provide the support necessary to allow all nannies to excel at this highly influential position.

Social Events
Philly Nannies hosts a social event each month. It is often a dinner at a local restaurant. We try to plan the events at different locations and times, and welcome suggestions. In addition to dinners, we have also gone bowling and mini-golfing, painted pottery and learned how to scrapbook. We are always looking for something new and fun to try! Volunteer Opportunities
Philly Nannies likes to give back to the community! For previous community service projects, we worked in a community garden in West Philly, and took one of our playgroups to a nursing home on the Main Line. We delivered lots of toys for kids and senior citizens through U of Penn's Operation Santa Claus for the holidays. We have hosted storytimes at a library during the Week of the Young Child. We also collect and deliver food to local food banks during the holidays.

Speakers
Once or twice a year, Philly Nannies sponsors a speaker or career enrichment opportunity. Past activities include: CPR & First Aid training, study sessions for the INA Nanny Credentialing test, and speakers. Our last event was given by Lora Brawley of Brawley and Associates who presented "I have one nerve left.. dealing effectively with anger towards children." Watch this space and your email for upcoming classes or activities!

PLAYGROUPS
We currently have playgroups in place on the Main Line. Are you interested in starting a new playgroup? We can help! If you are willing to be the contact person, all you need to do is let us know. We can put you in touch with others who are interested. As the leader, you let everyone know where to meet weekly, as well as the time and day. Last year it was mostly organized by text messages and emails, so it's pretty easy. Let us know if you are interested!
